Grizzly Bears
Grizzly bears are an umbrella species—protecting them protects many species.
Once numbering close to 50,000 in the Lower 48, grizzlies in the U.S. now live in isolated pockets of Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming. Their populations are growing as they search their historic range for food and mates.
